Google Photo Service
"Google's new service for organizing and backing up images blends some of the best of what Apple and Yahoo have rolled out in recent months.
Just download the Google Photos app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device and connect over Wi-Fi. Photos and video on your device will automatically upload to Google's servers.
Google and Apple use face-recognition technology to sort photos by individuals, while Yahoo knows only that there's someone there — not who. Google was even smart enough to automatically group together photos of the same person at 2 months old and 6 years old."
Do I really want this gigantic corporation, who recently (and quietly) removed their motto "Do No Evil", to have control of every single digital picture and video I have?
Oh I know, in reality they already have it, but I can try to ignore that fact. If you sign up for this service, you're basically signing over all your rights and giving this conglomerate permission to riffle through all your personal bid-ness in order to sort and group them for you. You're giving them permission to use FACIAL RECOGNITION ON ALL YOUR PHOTOS!
Call me paranoid, but I don't want to know if it's already happening and I certainly don't want to give them permission. Just seems all to Terminator-y to me.
