Y'know, maybe we should assume the Bush is doing what he's supposed to.
And that maybe the "war" thing is a distraction to get people's minds off the other stuff going on in the background.
Think about what legislation has been passed while the "war" has been going on. The oil industry got waht it wanted (in spades). The financial industry got what it wanted with the consumer bankruptcy bill. The defense industry got what it wanted with the gazillions in new contracts in their pockets. Telcos got what they wanted with mergers. The Insurance industry got what they wanted. The media industry got what it wanted. Corporations overall got better handouts through legislation. It's been the golden age for big business.
If there wasn't a "war", the public's attention might have killed some of these things.
If Bush, Cheney, and others in the adminstration are ever held accountable for some of these "war" crimes, no big loss for the people & big business backing them. In that case, Bush & Co are jsut collateral damage, and there will always be someone new to do the bidding.
But remember, follow the money and things become clear.
Oh I think bush and Co. are just collateral damage anyway. Do you actually think that Big Business cares about whose head rolls when all is said and done? Nooooo. They will have made their gazillions by then. There are so many people prospering from this war. The longer it lasts, the more $$ they rake in. Why would they care about what happens to the people who are responsible for the war?
There is no honor among the thieves in this administration.
I don't know how good your memory is, but under Bush 41, I remember working the company I was working at literally had weeks and months where there weren't any new orders coming in for products, and we were doing "make work" things to do then (it was before outsourcing was en vogue).
Under Bush 43, when his $2T+ tax cut passed in 2001, we literally saw healthy backlogs of work disappear within 1-2 months afterward. That's when the recession began for the US.
Both Bushes, same results. Still people voted for them.

That's exactly why Bush wants to send in more troops and doesn't want a time table.
