"Obama will not be swiftboated. Period."

Obama distributed a memo to reporters this morning completely debunking the lying piles of crap at Fox News and Insight Magazine.

From the memo:

To be clear, Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ in Chicago. Furthermore, the Indonesian school Obama attended in Jakarta is a public school that is not and never has been a Madrassa.

These malicious, irresponsible charges are precisely the kind of politics the American people have grown tired of, and that Senator Obama is trying to change by focusing on bringing people together to solve our common problems.

Fox News and the rabid Right will be the best thing that could ever happen to Obama. Every time they try to smear him with false accusations, he shows what he’s made of by rising to the occasion with class and style.

Keep it up, Fox. You’ll put Obama in the White House yet.

I like this guy. But, read my comments about the SOTU speech, too. I like this James Webb guy very much. Of course, he hasn't announced that he's running for anything.

Alot of DC insiders (I work in DC) are saying that all Dem nominees are "rookies" and "need more experience" which leads me to believe a bunch of unfounded conspiracy theories that I will go into at a later date....

I like Obama. I read his book and have had the pleasure of attending a speaking engagement. He's a very good public speaker and well rounded person who does take the plight of the ordinary citizen into consideration.

Ooooh Fatman, we like unfounded conspiracy theories, do tell! And since you work in DC I hope you keep us updated on all the inside poop going on in Washington. How exciting it would be to work there, especially during an election year. Would love to hear your thoughts on what you think actually hit the Pentagon on 911.

I don’t know much about Webb, except the fact that he’s the only one of these guys who actually has a kid in Iraq and is still against the war, which is pretty impressive. But like you said, Cait, he hasn’t thrown his hat into the ring yet.

I've been working in DC since 2001. I live in Baltimore. That's a two hour daily commute. 1 up 1 back.
Things have changed considerably since then--I'll be the first to tell you that we were extremely depressed in '04.
As for 9/11--It wasn't a missle. it was an Airplane. I know witnesses who were working in a complex right next to the Pentagon, they saw the whole thing go down.Plus people on 395 saw the plane crash into it, too. The Missle theory usually gets laughed at in these parts because so many people saw it happen. I did not, That day, I was out with my daughter. She hadf a Dr. Appt. Thank god for small miracles.
For the longest time, my friends and I had what we called "The end of the world kit" which was a pack of smokes, a bottle of Tequila and 20 bucks. We kept it in one of our offices until we all eventually got laid off. (former Worldcom employee)
DC is a different universe with a lot of sub universes thrown in. The Hill is a planet all on its own. Trust me. The people who work there are strange mutant types who make no money. They live off lobbyists feeding them at seminars. No lie.
I'll keep you in the beltway loop, thats for sure.

Well, let's not forget that Shrub didn't have any experience either, and the Repubs didn't think that was such a bad idea. Frankly, I think the Presidency is probably a learn-as-you-go proposition, no matter what the prior experience might be.

BTW, damned if I didn't get an email today expounding all the lies about Obama that you addressed.

I don’t know how you could prepare for the presidency either, so lack of experience is no big deal to me. I actually think it’s a good thing. I’m sick of professional politicians. A novice couldn’t possible screw things up any worse than Bush has.
